Philanthropy

Gamma Alpha proudly supports the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, because every brother's life matters.

Our cause

Standing with AFSP.

The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) is the nation's largest nonprofit dedicated to saving lives and bringing hope to those affected by suicide. It's a cause close to our brotherhood, one we're proud to give our time, energy, and fundraising to each year.

From The Walk to Snulympics and the Vintage Market, Gamma Alpha shows up for mental health. Our goal is simple: raise money, break the stigma, and make sure every brother and classmate knows they are never alone.

Our philanthropy events

New in 2025

Snulympics

Launched in Fall 2025, Snulympics invites Greek organizations across IFC, CPC, and beyond to compete in a powerlifting showdown, fraternity vs. fraternity and sorority vs. sorority. Each chapter enters its three strongest lifters across bench, squat, and deadlift, with three judged attempts apiece. Chapters are scored on total weight lifted and total funds raised, and we crown three winners: most raised, strongest chapter, and overall champion. All proceeds support AFSP and the Andrew Collins Project.

Annual

The Walk

Our longest-standing tradition. Alongside AFSP, brothers fundraise with the wider campus community and walk together around Tech Green, a symbol of the support and community behind suicide prevention. Every dollar raised goes to AFSP.

Each semester

Yellow Jacket Vintage Market

A semesterly market on Tech Green where we host 15–20 local Atlanta vintage sellers to sell their clothes on campus. It raises awareness for suicide prevention while spotlighting local Atlanta businesses, with all funding directed to AFSP and the Andrew Collins Project.
